Mariska Martina’s music is like a cozy evening drink enjoyed by a cheeky English nan — a soothing chamomile tea with a surprising splash of gin. Whether steeped in the flavours of funk, folk, pop, or pouring in something that treads the line of musical theatre, Mariska's sound remains consistently soulful and soothing. Their unique style combines the Latin roots of their Peruvian mother with their first musical love, the cello, which they began playing at the tender age of five. This distinctive blend, coupled with a charming accent from growing up in the Netherlands, creates a musical brew that lingers long after the last sip.
Having captivated audiences across London at venues like Brasserie Zédel, Ronnie Scott's, Toulouse Lautrec, and Café Bohème, Mariska enjoys a global listenership, with over X thousand monthly listeners in France and dedicated fans from Chile to South Korea. They have released two original EPs in close collaboration with renowned musician Roddy Matthews (known for his work with Ab Fab and George Michael), one jazz EP featuring world-renowned saxophonist Dave O’Higgins, and several singles, including the theme song for the Amazon Prime series Mafia Ties.
On and off the stage, Mariska is a passionate advocate for mental health and often indulges in comedic sketches, such as their 2020 cover of “Uptown Girl” (reimagined as “Lockdown Girl”). Currently, Mariska is in the process of producing their debut album, slated for release in 2025.
